UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA), Institutional Handbook of Operating Policies (IHOP), provides guidelines for interactions between UT Health San Antonio clinicians and researchers with industry. Industry includes pharmaceutical companies, laboratory equipment suppliers, and other clinical supply sectors.
Current policy prohibits or regulates the following activities:
- Compensation or gifts from industry to UTHSA clinicians or researchers
- Industry interactions with UTHSA trainees
- Provision of free drug, device, and other product samples to clinicians
- Industry support for educational events on UTHSA campus
- Delivering industry-sponsored lectures or participating in legitimate conferences and meetings of clinicians or researchers in locations other than UTHSA facilities
- Disclosure of relationships with industry
