3/31/20 | 4:00 pm | On-campus screening, entry points and parking updates
Dear Faculty, Staff, Students and Residents:
As we end what was an extremely busy March and move into what we anticipate will be an even busier April, I, along with President Henrich, want to again assure you that your UT Health San Antonio leadership and an army of faculty, staff, students and residents are doing everything in our power to successfully assist our students, trainees, workforce and patients, as well as the greater San Antonio community, through this COVID-19 crisis.
A few brief updates for you today:
- For those coming to campus, we believe it is important that we continue to screen for fevers and ask brief illness questions. We began this practice last week, and will continue until the need no longer exists. I greatly appreciate the School of Nursing and Long School of Medicine student volunteers who are assisting with these screenings.
- In order to preserve PPE and to reduce the number of volunteers needed, working with UT PD we have reduced the number of access/entry points to campus buildings. Please see the map showing these locations on the COVID-19 internal site. The screening stations will be operational Monday-Friday. I am grateful for your cooperation in being screened which benefits you as well as the entire campus, and for your flexibility entering the buildings utilizing these limited entry sites.
- Since many employees and students are currently working or taking classes remotely, we have relaxed our parking policies so that those who do not have a reserved parking permit may park in any unreserved parking space. For example, a Zone V Unreserved permit may be used in a Zone II Unreserved parking space.
Our leadership can’t thank you enough for continuing to follow the guidance of the CDC about social distancing and hand hygiene measures. Experts believe that if we continue these proven practices, they will significantly help us through this crisis without over-taxing our health care system.
