{"id":364,"date":"2019-05-16T16:35:04","date_gmt":"2019-05-16T16:35:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.uthscsa.edu\/heb-clinical\/?page_id=364"},"modified":"2026-01-28T12:01:02","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T18:01:02","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.uthscsa.edu\/heb-clinical\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row el_class=&#8221;far&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2>Mission Statement<\/h2>\n<p>To provide expert simulation experiences throughout the curriculum that support the development of competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n<h2>Vision Statement<\/h2>\n<p>The CSC will be a leader in SP methodology and simulation activities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>About Us<\/h2>\n<p>The H-E-B Clinical Skills Center (CSC) is a modern facility designed for the teaching and assessment of clinical skills throughout the healthcare education curriculum. <a href=\"https:\/\/3reqjj2w37ot2bnym9qbiae1-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/heb-clinical\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/122\/2019\/05\/mapofclinicalskillscenter.png\">Click here for a floor plan.<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Twenty (20) clinical exam rooms and four (4) larger simulation rooms are equipped to utilize\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 standardized patient (SP), manikin, and task trainer simulations, for teaching, learning and assessment.<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) student classrooms are available for briefing and debriefing.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0One (1) SP classroom for meetings and training where the SPs have their own restrooms, lockers, and other amenities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CSC has a highly specialized design with two parallel corridors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The outer corridor for student access to the exam rooms.<\/li>\n<li>The inner corridor for SP access and faculty\/staff observation via a one-way mirror.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CSC utilizes various technology and equipment to capture student activities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learner\/SP encounters are digitally recorded with a state-of-the-art Web-based program.<\/li>\n<li>Two HD pan-tilt-zoom cameras in the exam rooms allow for optimal recording and viewing.<\/li>\n<li>Overhead paging allows for precise timing of examinations throughout the facility.<\/li>\n<li>The SP and learner are provided with computers to fill out questionnaires tailored to evaluate the skills being assessed.<\/li>\n<li>Remote video viewing is available to students and faculty when requested and appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>All cameras and paging functions are managed from a central control room.<\/li>\n<li>The digital audio\/video system, paging system, and clinical skills testing software were built by <em><strong>Education Management Solutions<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-size: inherit\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row el_class=&#8221;far&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;] Mission Statement To provide expert simulation experiences throughout the curriculum that support the development of competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.
