The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Joe and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine offers a fully accredited four-year training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology that fulfills the requirements of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology for specialty certification.

This program is conducted primarily at University Health System facilities – University Hospital and University Health Center Downtown/Robert B. Green Campus, with additional gynecology rotations at South Texas Veterans Health Care Systems – VA Medical Center. Our faculty includes members certified in the subspecialties of Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Clinical Genetics, Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Minimally Invasive Surgery as well as General Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The program is fully accredited and approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education for 7 residents per year in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our educational objectives are based on the Council for Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) educational objectives, and are updated annually with the goal of continuous improvement of the residency program.

The UT Health San Antonio is part of the University of Texas System, and offers more than 50 health-related degree specialties and several pre- and post-baccalaureate certificate programs. The interdisciplinary aspect of research and patient care is regarded as one of the University’s greatest strengths.

The University Hospital System provides the primary teaching facilities. The University Hospital is a fully accredited, 1000 bed hospital and it is one of the top 100 U.S. hospitals listed in U.S. News and World Report. The University Health Center – Robert B. Green Campus, the outpatient clinic facility, is located eight miles from the hospital. Patients are cared for directly by residents under faculty supervision.
