Application Process

Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas. If there are any questions regarding this in the application process, inquiries should be made directly to the Texas Medical Board. The Department participates in the National Resident Matching Program and the Electronic Residency Application System. Only applications submitted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) will be considered. Candidates are selected on the basis of their application, transcript, letters of recommendation, and interviews.

The following items must be received through the ERAS system (accessible at your Dean’s office, or for foreign medical graduates through the ECFMG) in order for your application process to be complete:

  • Application Form
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (“Dean’s Letter”)
  • Medical School Transcript
  • USMLE Transcript and Exam History
  • OB/GYN Department Chairman’s Letter of Reference
  • Two Other Reference Letters
  • Personal Statement
  • Photograph
  • Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates

Applicants who are judged to be competitive after review of their credentials are invited for interview. Interviews are held at UT Health San Antonio where applicants will have a chance to meet residents, fellows, faculty, and other departmental staff and tour the facilities.
