Brooks, Edward G., M.D.

Personal Statement:

Dr. Brooks has over 20 years of clinical research experience in immunology. He has broad experience in human immune and allergic disorders and has performed investigations of animal and human lymphocyte phenotypic studies and biomarker analysis. Dr. Brooks has published over 50 articles with more than 1900 citations. He has had a long-standing interest in immune deficiency syndromes and in causes and mechanisms of airway inflammation. Brooks has provided research training at all levels: high school, college, pre-doctoral graduate and medical students, post-doctoral PhD candidates ans sub-specialty MDs. In the past 5 years, Brooks has served as a mentor to a graduate student who studies airway inflammation states in response to environmental pollutants and the influences of oxidative balance. Dr. Brooks also served as the Associate Program Director of the Allergy and Immunology training program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

Research

Dr. Edward Brooks received his medical training at Texas Tech University and Harvard University. Dr. Brooks is a frequent speaker and consultant on airway inflammation caused by bacteria and air pollution as they relate to asthma. He actively investigates new drug targets for asthma treatment, and has written over 50 journal articles, book chapters and reviews in immunology.
