Call to submit abstracts for Poster or Podium Presentation

THEME: Shortage of healthcare providers and a plan for retention.  How does this affect patient care?

Podiums submissions are due by April 19, 2024.  Podium presentations will be given a 30 minute presentation time to include questions and answer time.
Poster submissions are due by May 10, 2024.  Posters will be presented on June 3, 2024 4:30-5:30 PM.  Authors are required to stand by their poster for an hour during the designated session.

IMPORTANT:

  1. All accepted abstract presenters are expected to come to the conference and attend all sessions.  They are also required to pay for their registration for the full two days and cover their own travel and lodging.
  2. Confirmation of receipt of abstract will be emailed only to the first author; please allow a few business days to process.
  3. Topics of interest for presentations, include, but not limited to:
    • Recovery housing for pregnant or parenting women with substance use disorder and their children
    • Caring for the mother-baby dyad
    • Systems to promote wellness and wellbeing
    • Non-medical drivers’ of health: food, housing, education, employment, environment
    • Infant and early childhood mental health
    • Early childhood development and intervention
    • Inclusive and equitable community solutions
    • Importance of recovery services for women
    • Cultural beliefs, values, and practices
    • Access to care and service utilization for historically marginalized communities
    • Upstream strategies for building healthy communities
    • Promoting self-actualization
    • Peer support services throughout recover
    • Patient advocacy throughout the continuum of treatment
    • Teaching the patient to advocate for themselves
    • Novel approaches to NAS care
    • Harm reduction
    • Trauma informed care

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Prior to submitting your abstract, all listed authors must complete UT Health San Antonio DLL Financial Relationships Information.
  2. Follow the format listed below. Note: THERE IS NO WORD COUNT, KEEP THE ABSTRACT TO ONE PAGE.
  3. All accepted podiums and poster presenters must REGISTER, pay the registration fee, and pay their own travel, lodging and all expenses related to the conference.
  4. Submit abstract as an email attachment in MS Word format (do not use PDF) to Cindy Gutierrez gutierrezc8@uthscsa.edu. Attach your CV to the abstract email.

Format:

  1. MS Word document, font 12, Times New Roman
  2. Abstract title (do not put in all caps)
  3. Presenting author’s name, credentials, title, organization name, email and phone number
  4. Additional authors’ names, credentials, title, organization
  5. Identify if you are submitting for Poster or Podium
    Abstract content- must include:

    1. Problem or purpose relevant to the conference theme and objective
    2. Background
    3. Discussion of issue or concepts or variables of interest
    4. Population, sample, setting if research and description of community resource
    5. Methods (research) or interventions (practice or teaching)
    6. Findings, conclusions and implications
    7. References (REQUIRED)
