Call for Abstracts
Submit for Podium Presentation or for Poster Presentation
THEME: Connecting Families and Communities using a Culturally Congruent Approach.
Podium presentations will be 30 minutes long including question and answer (review process is competitive).
Poster Presentations are tentatively scheduled for Monday, June 26, 2023 4:30-5:30 PM (during the evening reception).
Conference Learning Outcomes: Participants will identify at least one area in which the symposium increased their knowledge regarding connecting families and communities using culturally congruent approaches and the latest evidence-based practice relating to neonatal abstinence syndrome.
Topics of Interest (but not limited to):
- Recovery housing for pregnant or parenting women with substance use disorder and their children .
- Caring for the mother-baby dyad
- Wellness and well-being
- Social Determinants of Health: food, housing, education, employment, environment
- Early childhood development and intervention
- Community solutions for substance use
- Funding recovery services for women
- Cultural beliefs, values, and practices
- Underserved or underrepresented populations
- Rural communities
- Building healthy communities
- Peer recovery services
- Novel approaches to NAS care
- Harm reduction
- Trauma informed care
Submission Guidelines:
- Prior to submitting all listed authors must complete the Financial Disclosure https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DLL_Financial_Relationships
- Prior to submitting all listed authors must submit a current CV or Resume
- Submit abstract as an email attachment in MS Word format (do not PDF) and there is a 500 word limit. Email to Cindy Gutierrez gutierrezc8@uthscsa.edu
- Please note: If accepted to present all presenters who are planning on attending must REGISTER, pay the registration fee and are responsible for their own travel and all expenses related to the conference.
Format:
MS Word document font 12 Times New Roman list in this order
- Abstract title (do not put in all caps)
- Presenting author’s name, credentials, title, organization name, email and phone #Additional authors’ names, credentials, title, organization
- Identify Poster or Podium (or both)
Abstract content- must include (there is no word count, just keep to 1 page):
- Background
- Population, sample, setting
- Methods or interventions
- Results and/or findings
- Discussion
- References (required)
Deadlines and Communication:
1. Submission deadline for Podium Presentation EXTENDED TO MAY 15TH, 2023 and Poster Presentation EXTENDED JUNE 1ST, 2023.
2. Confirmation of receipt of abstract will be emailed only to the first author and allow a few business days.
3. Acceptance of abstracts for Podiums will be sent after all submissions are reviewed. Poster Presentation will be emailed on an ongoing basis.
4. All podium and poster presenters must register and pay the registration fee, make their own travel and hotel accommodations.
