Event Details:
OIS has partnered with Immigration attorney Dan Oldenburg (Cline Williams Wright Johnson & Oldfather, L.L.P.) to provide you the opportunity to obtain a general overview of the employment based I-485 application for permanent residency process. This presentation will discuss priority dates, underlying visa status, the I-485 Supplement J and other pre-filing considerations. Mr. Oldenburg will address the role of the I-765 Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and I-131 Advance Parole (AP) travel document.

This presentation will not discuss University green card sponsorship, as that request must be initiated by the sponsoring department. This workshop is most applicable to those who already have an approved I-140 or will be close to obtaining one.  For the University sponsorship process, please visit this policy. OIS at UTHSA, similar to other international offices, is unable to advise employees on eligibility for adjustment of status issues (the final stage of the green card process) and employees are responsible for preparing and submitting any application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) filed with USCIS or application for immigrant visa processing.
