About the Speaker(s)

Dr. Goodman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health and Health Disparities at UTMB’s School of Public and Population Health. As the developer of the Flourishing Community Model, his work integrates social, economic, and behavioral health dimensions to empower communities to improve their shared development and well-being. These efforts have been made possible by over a decade of collaboration with medical, public health, nursing, physical therapy, and other health students at UTMB and across the UT Health System, whose contributions have been central to advancing both research and practice. His current NIH-funded research is centered on women and families living with HIV, including new measures of community self-governance, collective hope, and alloparenting (the notion that it takes a village to raise a child). Dr. Goodman extends this research into practice as Founding President of Sodzo International, creating sustainable community impact in Kenya, and as Chief Impact Officer at Flourish, scaling this work through innovative digital platforms.
