A specialty occupation requires theoretical and practical application of a body of specialized knowledge, consistent with a profession requiring a minimum of a Bachelor\u2019s degree or its equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>The H-1B employee must also possess the stated minimum requirements for the position at the time of the H-1B petition filing, which includes the appropriate license, if applicable.<\/p>\n<p>At UT Health San Antonio, departments may consider sponsoring H-1Bs for the following specialized occupations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assistant, Associate, or Professors<\/li>\n<li>Professor, Associate, Assistant, or Instructor\/Clinical<\/li>\n<li>Professor, Associate, Assistant, or Instructor\/Research<\/li>\n<li>Lecturers\/Instructors<\/li>\n<li>Research Scientists<\/li>\n<li>Postdoctoral Fellows<\/li>\n<li>Other Professional Exempt Staff where a specific degree is minimum requirement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]An H-1B is a non-immigrant visa classification used by an employer offering a position in a specialty occupation to an employee who will be temporarily employed (for up to 6 years, total with exceptions for extensions).
