A new Presidential Proclamation<\/a> has been issued on April 30th that will suspend entry of nonimmigrants from India. This is due to the severity and amount of increasing COVID cases that India is currently experiencing. Any nonimmigrant that was physically present in India within the last 14 days prior to attempting to enter the United States will be prohibited at this time. \u00a0This travel ban goes into effect May 4th at 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time.<\/p>\n

Uniform national interest exceptions<\/a> will be applied to this travel ban. These are the same exceptions that have been applied to all other countries where a travel ban is currently active.<\/p>\n

The Office of International Services (OIS) is discouraging all non-emergency travel at this time. Any student and scholar that may be considering traveling at this time or in the future should continue to read all email correspondence from the OIS, watch for blog updates, and connect with your international advisor prior to traveling abroad.<\/p>\n
