Scheduled Topics (Rotating per week):
-ILD Multidisciplinary Conference
ILD cases are examined, with a multidisciplinary discussion of their clinical presentation, radiographic abnormalities and pathological specimens. Attendees include pulmonary, radiology and pathology Staff, with the goal to provide fellows with a multidisciplinary insight to ILD and its clinical management.
-Cystic Fibrosis Conference
A didactic conference, where different topics in the world of Cystic Fibrosis will be presented by Staff with the goal to provide fellows with formalized education on the complex and multidisciplinary management of patients with cystic fibrosis.
-Critical Care Didactic Series
A didactic conference focused on presenting educational topics important in critical care medicine
– US Rounds
Expert faculty will present didactic sessions on the basics of bedside US interpretation, along with hands-on image acquisition on live patients.

Scheduled Topic:
-Interesting Case Conference
The focus of this conference is to learn to evaluate chest radiographs and CT sans of the chest under the direction of the Pulmonary Staff and to discuss the management of difficult diagnostic problems and cases.

Scheduled Topic:
-Pathology Conference
A multidisciplinary conference involving pulmonary and pathology staff, where actual clinical cases that fellows have encountered that week are presented, along with their radiographic abnormalities, their biopsy/pathology specimens and finally their management.

Thursday, 12:00pm-1:15pm
Location: UH or VA Hospital, or via Zoom or MS Teams

Scheduled Topic (Rotating per week):
-Transplant Conference
The focus of this conference is to review the cases of all inpatient transplant patients, outpatients, seen on the Tuesday of the week in the Transplant clinic and update and discuss new referrals and those patients currently listed for transplant.

Friday, 8:00am-10:00 am
Location: UT SOM Building, or via Zoom or MS Teams

Scheduled Topics:
-Combined Fellows Didactic Conference
Fellows and staff will present assigned topics in the area of pulmonary or critical care medicine, focusing on the latest research and material important for the pulmonary and critical board certification exams. Fellows from SAMC and UT Health San Antonio will present topics here, with discussion from expert faculty. Each lecture will be 1-hour in length.

Friday, 12:00pm-1:00pm

Scheduled Topics:
-Journal Club
Fellows will formally present recent research articles in the area of pulmonary and critical care medicine, followed by discussion from expert staff.
-Academic Research Didactics
Expert faculty will review key components of academic research, from the basics of statistics to preparing an IRB’s and designing studies. The basics of writing research abstracts, case-reports, presentation skills and preparing powerpoint presentations will also be discussed
-Board Review and other Educational Didactics
Pulmonary and Critical Care board review questions will be reviewed and discussed, along with other critical care and pulmonary lecture topics important for the boards.
