In the 1960’s the Texas Legislature passed a bill to establish The University of Texas System School of Nursing at San Antonio in response to a nursing shortage.
Our doors opened in 1969
May – Dr. Greta Styles became the first Dean of the School of Nursing and was also elected President of the American Nurses Association.
Our founding faculty members
There were four other founding faculty members Ruth Stewart, Suellen Reed, Nancy Maebius, and Debra Hymovic prepare for their first class.
