About Us

The General Dentistry Clinic is part of UT Dentistry, the dental practice of the internationally recognized School of Dentistry at UT Health San Antonio. UT Dentistry is the region’s largest and most comprehensive dental provider, incorporating the latest in research, technology and proven treatments.

Being a part of UT Dentistry gives our patients access to the full spectrum of dental care from routine checkups to the most complex specialty care, all in one convenient location. Across all UT Dentistry clinics, strict procedures are in place to ensure patient safety, infection control, patient records security and other patient care criteria.

Our General Dentistry Clinic uses a private practice model of dental care with an experienced dentist and team dedicated to this clinic. Our patients will get to personally know their dentist and what to expect when they visit while also receiving the highest level of personalized care in our state-of-the-art clinical facilities.

Meet the Dentist

Dr. Brian Secrist, DDS, is our clinic’s director and treatment provider. He comes to UT Health from Colorado where he owned a thriving private dental practice for almost 40 years. Known for his gentle and caring approach with expert attention to detail, he prides himself on providing personalized and comfortable comprehensive oral care for his patients.

He uses his extensive continuing dental education in dentistry’s latest advances such as digital dentistry, CAD/CAM restorations, in-house 3D printing, 3D x-ray cone beams and digital sensors when caring for his dental patients.

When he is not taking care of patients, Dr. Secrist spends time exploring his new home, San Antonio, with his wife Lila of more than 44 years. They have three adult children and four grandchildren.

What to expect on your visit

Currently, everyone entering the clinical building must wear a mask and will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

Our General Dentistry Clinic is located on the second floor of UT Dentistry’s Center for Oral Health Care and Research at 8210 Floyd Curl Drive in San Antonio’s Medical Center. We have patient parking in the garage located behind UT Dentistry’s building or use the patient drop-off at the main entrance.

The main entrance is located at the back of the building facing the parking areas.

The General Dentistry Clinic is on the second floor of the facility which can be accessed from the elevator in the main lobby when you enter the building. We ask that new patients arrive 15 minutes early to complete any patient paperwork.

We understand that visits to the dentist can cause anxiety and stress for some patients. Our clinic offers patients multiple comfort options, please let us know prior to or during your visit about any anxiety you have so that we can make sure to address those prior to treatment.

During your visit, Dr. Secrist will take some time to get to know you if this is your first visit or discuss any dental concerns, discomfort or changes for returning patients before beginning a comprehensive oral evaluation. The evaluation includes a full examination of your teeth, gums and mouth, as well as any necessary X-rays. Following the exam, Dr. Secrist will discuss any findings, and review your personalized treatment plan to help you maintain long-term oral health. If scheduled, the dental hygienist will then perform a full cleaning and polish your teeth.

New patients are encouraged to bring records or X-rays from previous dentists within the past five years in either a printed or digital format. Patient records can also be sent directly to our clinic by fax.

Patients will receive a reminder message two days prior to their scheduled appointment.

If you need to make changes to your scheduled appointment, please call us two days prior to your appointment at 210-567-6453.
