Scam Alert: Targeting Student and Exchange Visitors
We have received notice of a potential scam that is targeting F-1 students and J-1 Exchange Visitors. Scammers are using SEVP Response Center (SRC) phone numbers (703-603-3400 and 800-892-4829) and posing as SEVP representatives when calling their potential victims. They are asking questions about the Form I-94 and requesting that students send money. DO NOT FALL PREY TO THIS SCAM.
SEVP will not contact you to request money. If you should receive a call, please contact our office and UT Police. Do not give out any personal and/or financial information! Report all suspicious calls to the HSI tip line.
When in doubt, reach out to OIS immediately. If an event should occur after hours, on the weekend, or during a holiday break, please contact UT Police as they will be able to connect with our office.
