Hurricane Season 2022

The Office of International Services wants to remind our international visitors that it is hurricane season. Hurricane season officially begins in June and runs through the end of November. Nothing to alarm our international visitors as we only want to keep you informed and aware. In the event of inclement or severe weather, you will want to monitor the weather stations (online, local tv stations, and radio) and information from the University. If you have not done so already, make sure that you are registered with HSC Alert. This will keep you connected to the University and important messages will be sent to you via text, such as delayed openings, campus closures, etc.

There are things that you can do now to prepare for an emergency. Some emergency items you may want to have on hand are bottled water, flashlight and batteries, and a medical kit. You don’t need to have a year supply of toilet paper, but just an extra four-pack in your reserves. You may also refer to Ready.gov “Build a Kit” for a recommended list of emergency items that should be readily accessible at your home. We are simply providing you with some information and creating awareness. Play it safe, stay connected to our office and the University, and be prepared for when something, such as bad weather, should arise.

If we do experience bad weather, once the weather has passed, connect with your family and friends to alert them that you are safe.
