Communicating with Confianza — A Health Literacy ECHO
We are launching the Communicating with Confianza — A Health Literacy ECHO in partnership with Health Confianza, a collaboration between UT Health San Antonio ECHO Superhub, YWCA, South Central AHEC, and the University of Texas at Austin to provide health literacy education, training, resources, knowledge-sharing, and workforce development for Bexar County and surrounding areas. We believe health literacy (finding, understanding and using health information to make better health choices) is critical to transform health and achieving health equity for all.
This series will feature interactive discussions with the audience to discuss didactics, panel presentations, and case-based discussions. Sessions will be led by a trained facilitator who uses group conversation strategies to identify learning points and engage attendees. Hub members will share expertise and scientific approaches to enhance community health literacy.
Who is this ECHO for?
- Healthcare Professionals (e.g. physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, counselors, psychologists, etc.)
- Public Health Professionals
- Community Health Workers
- Case Managers & Case Navigators
- Community Members
Learning Objectives:
- Apply evidence-based strategies for improving health literacy of Bexar county and surrounding counties’ residents
- Implement health literacy-focused interprofessional approaches to clinical, non-clinical, and public health efforts
- Convey culturally sensitive health information that is accessible, understandable, and actionable
- Increase trust (Confianza) in local and surrounding communities by training the healthcare workforce in evidence-based health literacy strategies and interventions
