Andrea Marks, MBA, CPA

Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Marks has served as the senior executive vice president and chief operating officer for The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio since 2019.

In this role, she advises the president in all areas involving UT Health Science Center San Antonio’s business and financial operations and is responsible for leading the overall operations in alignment with the vision and direction of the president. She plans, administers, and directs operational activities in existing facilities and programs for UT Health Science Center San Antonio, also called UT Health San Antonio, as well as for new ventures and sites. Ms. Marks is responsible for directing over 900 employees in strategic planning, financial management, business operations, facility operations, information management, human resources, legal affairs, compliance, public safety, internal audit, and other administrative functions across the institution.

Ms. Marks has served at UT Health San Antonio in increasingly responsible roles since 2000. After working at The University of Texas at Austin for seven years, she began at UT Health San Antonio as director of internal audit and, four years later, was promoted to assistant vice president for business affairs. In November 2010, after a national search, she was selected to serve as vice president and chief financial officer, a role she held until she was promoted to senior executive vice president and chief operating officer in 2019.

Ms. Marks holds a Master of Business Administration in healthcare from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and earned a bachelor’s in business from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a certified public accountant with over 25 years of experience managing strategic, administrative and financial operations in higher education within The University of Texas System.
