Interview Visa Waiver Update
There has been a recent update to the eligibility for the interview visa waiver (also referred to as Dropbox). The Department of State announced on February 18, 2025, that it will return to the 12 month Dropbox eligibility from 48 months. Previously, if the prior visa expired within the last 48 months, then one would be eligible to request the interview visa waiver or what was called Dropbox.
This recent update may result in a high volume of in-person appointments which could cause a longer waiting periods. Those that have changed their immigration status, will not be eligible for the interview visa waiver. If you have international travel plans in the future and will need to renew or obtain a visa, it is important that you carefully plan your travel and review the U.S. Consulates website.
