COLLEGE FUNDS APPROVED FOR APRIL 2023

This email below has been confirmed as malicious or fraudulent by the Information Security department. If you have received this phishing email, do not open any attachments or follow the link(s) in the message; simply delete the email.

This is an attempt to gather Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from students. There is a recent trend to target students with promises for financial services, and this is just one more attempt to gather information.

The first step of this scam was to use a compromised UTHSA email. This allows the scammer to send the email from a “trusted account”. Do not assume that an email coming from a UTHSA email address is legitimate. As in this example, scammers will do everything they can to make a phish email look legitimate.
