New Teams Document in Uthscsa Teams

This email below has been confirmed as malicious or fraudulent by the Information Security department. If you have received this phishing email, do not open any attachments or follow the link(s) in the message; simply delete the email.

Review the Red Flags that show this email is a Phish/Malware:

  • Sender’s Email Address: The sender’s address appears suspicious and does not match the official email format of the purported organization (Microsoft Teams in this case).
  • Mismatched URL: The displayed URL text and the actual hyperlink (shown by the red arrow) do not match, and the hyperlink leads to a non-Microsoft domain which upon further investigation, is found to contain malware.
  • Inconsistencies in formatting: This email attempts to mimic an official Microsoft Teams notification by attaching an image of a Microsoft Teams page. There are major differences in formatting from what the legitimate Microsoft Teams notifications look like.
