This email below has been confirmed as malicious or fraudulent by the Information Security department. If you have received this phishing email, do not open any attachments or follow the link(s) in the message; simply delete the email.

This email is an example of an attempt to harvest logon credentials by impersonating the UTHSCSA Support desk and prompting users to logon to the malicious link. The key red flags are the following:

  • External Sender Address: The email comes from an external domain with to relation to UT Health. This is a major red flag for any “official” communications.
  • Prompt for Urgent Action: Creating a sense of urgency is a classic phishing technique to prompt hasty actions.
  • Malicious Link: The attached link redirects to an external web page which collects user credentials.
  • Attempt to Impersonate UTHSCSA: The email claims to be from the UTHSCSA security team, but lacks proper formatting and branding, a key giveaway.
