modification of direct deposit details

This email below has been confirmed as malicious or fraudulent by the Information Security department. If you have received this phishing email, do not open any attachments or follow the link(s) in the message; simply delete the email.

This is a common phishing email which impersonates a legitimate employee in an attempt to redirect direct deposit payments to the attacker. below are the red flags:

  • Mismatch Email: The email does not match the name of the sender, and is sent from an external account.
  • Request for Sensitive Action: The sender is attempting to scam the recipient into changing the direct deposit information of an employee.
  • Urgency: The attackers create a sense of urgency, a common tactic to cause hasty action.
  • Impersonating legitimate Employee: The attackers impersonate a legitimate employee in an attempt to redirect their direct deposit.
