This email below has been confirmed as malicious or fraudulent by the Information Security department. If you have received this phishing email, do not open any attachments or follow the link(s) in the message; simply delete the email.The real danger with this Phishing email is that a number of people might email the person back because they figure there is no harm and, if 18 Million dollars is at stake, it could be worth it. Replying to a phishing email confirms your email address is active, making you a target for more attacks and potential identity theft. It alerts scammers that you are a “live one,” allowing them to sell your data to other criminals, harvest your signature for further fraud, or install malware via interaction.
The misspelling in the subject line and the generic greeting are both red flags.
The large amount of money without naming the relative or the recipient are also red flags.
