About TACKLE

The TACKLE Program focused on strategic locations to create a network of integrated care provision for people living with HIV (PWH) co-infected with Hepatitis C (HCV) across South Texas. The project expanded HCV prevention, testing, care and curative treatment capacity in a network of South Texas Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program - funded clinics that primarily served a low-income, uninsured/underinsured racial and ethnic minority population of PWH.

TACKLE Program Goals

1. Establishment of a model of HCV screening and linkage to care and treatment including integration of substance use disorder (SUD)/ mental health services for People Living with HIV (PLWHIV) in a network of Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) funded clinics in South Texas

2. Provision of provider education and support for HIV/HCV co-infection management and treatment in PLWHIV by UT Health San Antonio ECHO

3. Education about and screening for HIV/HCV in communities that are predominantly composed of people of color

4. Improving surveillance for acute and chronic HCV in PWH

5. Systematic dissemination of program findings and lessons learned to reach large numbers of clinicians, researchers and policy makers

Our TACKLE Team

Our team consists of dedicated individuals passionate about improving prevention, care, treatment and cure of HCV in people living with HIV (PLWHIV).

TACKLE Partner Locations

The team was led by the Division of Infectious Disease and the Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH) Center at UT Health San Antonio in collaboration with the San Antonio AIDS Foundation, Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation, Valley AIDS Council, Center for Health Care Services, PILLAR, Family-Focused AIDS Clinical Treatment Services, Alamo Area Resource Center, South Central AETC, Valley AIDS AETC, and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
