Communicating COVID

ECHO for Community Health Workers (CHWs)

The COVID-19 pandemic created unprecedented challenges for the public health workforce and the communities it serves. Workforce shortages, misinformation, and eroding trust between the public and the health workforce has highlighted the critical need for a community-partnership, resource-sharing, and mutual support.

To support this, we are launching the Communicating COVID ECHO for CHWs in partnership with Health Confianza, a collaboration between UT Health San Antonio, UT San Antonio, and the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District to share relevant, usable information about COVID-19. with local providers.

Sessions will be hosted by a team of experts in community health, health literacy, and infectious disease. Each session will include didactics followed by participant presentations of real-life situations and group discussion to share resources and inform care.

This interactive, peer-to-peer learning community will offer:

  • Free continuing education credits
  • Ongoing, case-based learning
  • Engagement with a dynamic community of learning
  • Professional growth and networking
  • Capacity building for community health

Sessions occur biweekly, 12pm – 1pm (Central time) starting August 12, 2022.

Submit a case, join a session, grow

ECHOs thrive on the contribution of all learners. If you want guidance or support in delivering care, please consider presenting a case or scenario at our ECHO. Doing this is simple: just fill out our online case presentation form, join a session, and take a few minutes to talk us through the situation and your questions for the learning network. We’ll facilitate discussion of the case and support an evidence-based, multidisciplinary discussion about what to do next.
