LINC Members Contribute to 2024 Shine Academy Conference

The University of Texas System’s Kenneth I. Shine, MD, Academy of Health Science Education (Shine Academy) supports and promotes excellence in all aspects of health science education, including educational research, scholarship, and leadership at the eight UT System Health Science institutions. The Shine Academy’s 2024 Innovations in Health Science Education Conference was held on February 22-23 in Austin, Texas. The conference included 223 registrants for workshops, discussions, presentations, and a poster session.

Rekha Kar, Ph.D.,Several LINC contributors were recognized for their leadership and contributions. Bridgett Piernik-Yoder, Ph.D., OTR, member of the LINC Academic Affairs Council and the LINC Simulation IPE Initiative, began her tenure as the Shine Academy’s President-Elect, while Rekha Kar, Ph.D., member of the LINC Faculty Council and leader of the LINC Faculty & Staff Development Initiative, was inducted as a new member into the Shine Academy (pictured left).

Additional LINC contributors showcased their latest projects during the poster session. Rebecca Moote, Pharm.D., M.Sc., BCPS, and Marta Vives, D.N.P., PMHNP, CNS, BC, RN, presented the LINC Clinical IPE Initiative’s poster, Transitioning from Classroom to Practice: A Para-clinical Interprofessional Education Pilot, and Bobby Belarmino, PT, D.P.T., Ph.D., CCS, and Cameron Koerner, DPT student in the graduating class of 2025, presented their poster, Confidence, Communications, and Teamwork of Allied Healthcare Students after Interprofessional Critical Care Simulation Experience (pictured below).
