Team Awards

2023

The LINC Simulation IPE Initiative team received a best poster award in the simulation IPE category at the 2023 IPEC Poster Fair. Their poster, “A telehealth caregiver simulation to improve interprofessional communication and teamwork,” was first-authored by Dr. Sadie Trammell Velasquez, Associate Professor/Clinical and Assistant Dean for Preclinical Curriculum in the Long School of Medicine. The LINC Simulation IPE Experience first launched in Spring 2023 and serves as the second IPE activity in the LINC Longitudinal IPE Program.

2022

In 2022, UT Health San Antonio—for our work through LINC— received the ASAHP Award for Institutional Excellence and Innovation in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Health Care. This award recognizes institutional excellence, innovation and outstanding achievement in IPE and interprofessional collaborative practice. The LINC Didactic IPE Initiative team was awarded first place in the Quality Improvement and Evidence-Based Practice category at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Transform 2022 conference for their poster “LINC Common IPE Experience: Igniting BSN Student Engagement with Other Professions,” which was first-authored by Dr. Cynthia Wall, Associate Professor/Clinical and Director of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Nursing. The LINC Common IPE Experience is a university-wide activity first launched in 2020 that now serves as the foundational activity in the LINC Longitudinal IPE Program.

Individual Awards

2024

Dr. Deborah Conway, Long School of Medicine representative to the LINC Academic Affairs Council, received a 2024 Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence. This award annually recognizes exemplary teaching by individuals who consistently excel in their positions and demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and core values of UT Health San Antonio.

Rekha KarDr. Rekha Kar, leader of the LINC Faculty & Staff Development Initiative, was inducted into the University of Texas Kenneth I. Shine, M.D., Academy of Health Science Education for actively serving and promoting excellence in health science education, educational scholarship, and leadership. The Shine Academy fosters excellence in education in the health sciences by recognition of outstanding educators and advancement of knowledge and innovation in the field of education.

2023

Saima Khan, a senior School of Dentistry student and member of the LINC Student Council, was honored as a Dr. Jeanne Craig Sinkford Student Leadership Award recipient. This prestigious accolade recognizes one exceptional student from each dental school in North America who exemplifies outstanding leadership qualities and dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in oral healthcare.

Dr. Joseph Zorek, LINC Executive Director, received the 2023 Emerging Interprofessional NAP Member of the Year Award. This award recognizes one early to mid-career NAP fellow annually for outstanding contributions and future promise to the field of IPE and NAP. Read the NAP press release here.

Meredith QuineneDr. Meredith Quinene, former leader of the LINC Didactic IPE Initiative, received a 2021 Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence in part for her contributions to the LINC Faculty Council.
