LINC Team Awarded IPEC Best Poster
The LINC Simulation IPE Initiative presented their most recent dissemination product, “A telehealth caregiver simulation to improve interprofessional communication and teamwork,” at the 2023 IPEC Poster Fair on November 29, 2023. The team, led by Dr. Sadie Trammell Velasquez, Associate Professor/Clinical and Assistant Dean for Preclinical Curriculum in the Long School of Medicine, was awarded best poster in the simulation IPE category.
The award-winning poster describes spring 2023 outcomes from the team’s signature program, the LINC Simulation IPE Experience. This university-wide IPE activity involves interprofessional groups of 3-4 students working together to complete a high-fidelity IPE simulation involving a standardized patient playing the role of a family caregiver of a parent living with dementia. Nearly 800 students participated in spring 2023, who collectively reported progress towards IPEC competency attainment, heightened communication and teamwork skills, and a greater sense of readiness to engage in future IPE endeavors.
