LINC Introduces New Organizational Model

To consolidate gains accrued over the first five years of LINC and ensure our continued success well into the future, feedback and reflections from an array of LINC contributors and stakeholders have helped shape a new organizational model that launched in June 2025. The primary aims of the restructuring were to (1) ensure the sustained curricular integration of high-impact, university-wide IPE programming through LINC and (2) enhance capabilities to secure extramural funding to support innovations in interprofessional teamwork.
Pictured above, the new LINC organizational model retains three critically important groups: VP AFSA & Deans Council to provide the vision, resources, and oversight to support LINC’s success; the LINC Academic Affairs Council to ensure the sustainability of IPE curricular integration and manage the annual revision and approval processes associated with program-specific IPE Plans; and, the LINC Student Council to strengthen interprofessional socialization across campus and contribute to quality improvement efforts tied to university-wide IPE activities.
Two new groups were created during the organizational restructuring process: the LINC Education Council and the LINC Research Council.
Led by Dr. Sadie Velasquez, LINC’s new Assistant Director for Educational Programming, the LINC Education Council is charged with developing, implementing, evaluating, and improving the quality of the LINC Longitudinal IPE Program. This program consists of three university-wide IPE activities that are completed by over 3,000 students per year. New faculty leaders for each of these activities were chosen: Dr. Cynthia Wall from the School of Nursing to lead the LINC Common IPE Experience, Dr. Amir Begovic from the Long School of Medicine to lead the LINC Simulation IPE Experience, and Dr. Angela Kennedy from the School of Health Professions to lead the LINC Clinical IPE Experience.

LINC’s new Assistant Director for Research and Scholarship, Dr. Rebecca Moote, will lead the LINC Research Council. This group is charged with pursuing extramural funding to support IPE innovations designed to improve health and learning outcomes. Newly recruited members of the LINC Research Council include Drs. Sherri Cervantes and Rekha Kar from the Long School of Medicine, Dr. Noorpreet Kaur from the School of Dentistry, and Dr. Cathy Torrington Eaton from the School of Health Professions.
