Interprofessional Education Plans
This activity is embedded in the following IPE Plan for the current academic year:
First-year medical students go through extensive training on asthma education for four days. On the fifth day, students learn to formulate strategies for discussing asthma education and an asthma action plan. First-year respiratory care students from both BS and MS programs participate in this fifth day by interacting with the medical students when asthma cases are presented. The final activity involves second-year respiratory care students from the BS and MS programs. They present the role of the respiratory therapist in the management of the asthmatic patient in different clinical settings and finish by demonstrating how to use various aerosol devices.
