This large group presentation is given by upper-level physical therapy students covering the objectives listed below. It is given to first-year medical school students in conjunction with the week they learn about muscle physiology and some of their first encounters with musculoskeletal disorders, muscular dystrophy and myasthenia gravis.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the practice of physical therapy and the scope of practice of physical therapists (PT)
2. Compare and contrast the approach PT and physicians take to diagnosis, management and setting of goals in patient care
3. Explore how PT and physicians can collaborate in the care of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
