Summary

1) SUD Seminar: A 2-hour, in-person substance use seminar: The Fundamentals of Substance Use for the Interprofessional Health Professions. The seminar will provide the rationale for interprofessional interventions targeting substance use, including the current overdose crisis, an overview of the substance use continuum (from risky use to substance use disorders), substance use identification and brief interventions, and evidence-based behavioral and pharmacological treatments. 2) Project ECHO: The Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) model is an evidence-based learning community model leveraged to build capacity in healthcare interventions and treatment amongst interprofessional healthcare providers. Virtual teleECHO clinics will include a didactic presentation, case presentation, and open discussion with a panel of subject matter experts, consistent with the ECHO model. Clinic encounters will take place over the lunch hour via Zoom. This activity will expose students to case-based clinical learning and a mechanism for ongoing interdisciplinary professional development and case consultation post-graduation. 3) Texas Substance Use Symposium: The Texas Substance Use Symposium is a two-day hybrid in-person and virtual conference hosted by Be Well Texas’ Center for Substance Use Training and Telementoring in partnership with the University of Texas Austin. The interdisciplinary symposium hosts over 900 professionals and covers a range of clinical, policy, and research topics related to substance use disorder.
