QEP Impact Report
Fifth Year QEP Impact Report
Finalized February 2024
Overview
Since its approval in 2018 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) at UT Health San Antonio—Linking Interprofessional Networks for Collaboration, or LINC—has contributed to a proud tradition of institutional excellence by rapidly advancing campus-wide interprofessional education (IPE), defined as students from two or more professions learning about, from, and with one another to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.
Given the complexities of implementing IPE in a population of learners as large and heterogeneous as ours, we focused our QEP on developing first a university-wide infrastructure, then leveraging that infrastructure to increase IPE experiences for students, integrate the best of those IPE experiences into curricula, measure student IPE learning outcomes systematically, and share those outcomes with our peers through high-quality scholarship.
The QEP Impact Report is an institutional reflection on five years of progress and the incredible productivity and impact achieved. We believe the success of our approach is a replicable model for academic health centers to employ, including those accredited by SACSCOC. Importantly, several of the nation’s leading educational organizations have validated this belief. For our work through LINC, for example, UT Health San Antonio and contributors to the QEP have been recognized with several prestigious awards.
